Launch of Family-School & Community Partnerships Bureau |

The Family-School & Community Partnerships Bureau was officially lauched in Canberra recently. The Australian Government has funded the dedicated, parent-sponsored bureau to maximise the engagement of families with their schools, across both the government and non-government school sectors. The two peak parent bodies involved in the collaborative initiative are the Australian Parents Council (APC-our national body) and the Australain Council of State School Organisations (ACSSO). Minister Gillard has given her strong support for the Bureau in recognition of their aims.

I am here to tell you a little story. It is the story of a government program named Investing in Our Schools.
The program was first announced as an election commitment by the Liberal Party in 2004 and was due to expire in the 2008 calendar year. This end date was confirmed in budget papers in 2006.
It was confirmed again by the Prime Minister in a press release of 19 February 2007 which announced ‘a final round of funding’.

MORRIS IEMMA is calling Labor MPs to shore up support for privatisation of electricity, in a clear sign he fears the sale - which could bring a $15 billion windfall for the state - is in jeopardy.
The Premier and cabinet colleagues have earmarked the money for a range of ambitious proposals, including road tunnels for Sydney and upgrades to the rail network, that will be crucial to Labor's re-election chances.
